High Density Polyethylene as a cutting board

Frequently used in the food processing and dairy industry, UHMW Polyethylene is a popular replacement for a number of other industrial materials along with wonderful method for fixing many wear issues.   Each of these polymers are created from the same polyolefin plastic materials family, but all have certain properties that make them just a little different. HDPE provides great chemical resistance, has very high impact strength and great energy absorption. LD Polyethylene has lots of of the same properties as High Density yet it's not as dense at 9.15, whereas HDPE which is 9.34, as well as being a softer material ( the soft coffee can lids). In addition, it has a lower tensile strength and far better, easier heat forming. 
UHMW can be described as strong material that possesses great durability and low co-efficient of friction making it an ideal for sliding applications. The only plastic material with a lower co-efficient of friction is Teflon - PTFE; which has a higher temperature and chemical resistance.
